God-fearing and gifted Artist from Lake Worth, Florida
My name is Gabriela Izel, and no, it’s not a pen name. Izel means only one or unique and it’s my middle name, named after some random Princess that got married the day I was born! I was born and raised in Florida. However, my father is from Puerto Rico, while my mother, who is Black, was born in Florida. I was heavily inspired to pursue art when I saw how my brother drew these famous singers and rappers from magazines. I thought it was so cool to be an artist, so I picked up a pencil and started to draw. Like many of us growing up in the early 2000s, I was fond of Sonic the Hedgehog and Jurrasic Park, so I tried to draw them. At first, I put a piece of paper on top of the old computer screen to try and trace it. That didn’t work, so I got frustrated, so my parents told me not to give up and try again. I did try again, but I freehanded the whole drawing. My mother saw at the age of 10 that I had a gift for art, so she encouraged me to pursue that as a career even though I wanted to be a nurse like her. There were many other careers that I wanted to follow, like being an archaeologist, pharmacist, and even a ballerina or model. I chose to be an artist because my heart and spirit always led me to that. Even my 5th-grade art teacher, Ms.Westoven, saw my gift for the arts and encouraged me to pursue it as a career. Fast forward to now, in 2023, I’m still pursuing my art career, and I’m working as a Nail Artist from home.
